“Who cooks for you?” is the classic call of the barred owl that’s hard to miss. I stumbled upon this owl in a large mature forest along a walking trail at Lemoine Point Nature Reserve, on the shores of Lake Ontario.
Fourth Depot Lake is a part of Quinte Conservation Area in Central Frontenac. The depot lakes never disappoint with stunning scenery like this early morning pink and blue reflection.
Every year the loon couples return to Knowlton Lake and cottagers await the spring loonlets. Adult loons are known for their iconic calls, black and white plumage and ruby red eyes. There is nothing like the call of the loon in the wilderness.

Marj’s owl landed on her cedar rail fence in the backyard, waiting to be seen outside of the forest. This northern saw-whet owl was so cute peeking at the camera and showing off it’s soft feathered pattern.
